In the wake of our most successful Nationals Campaign to date back in April, alongside some stellar performances within the School Sport Victoria program, the light of some of our Propulsion superstars continues to shine brightly, culminating in selection for multiple Victorian Pathways Squads and fiercely-sought Victorian and Australian Team Selections.
Among the proudest Propulsion moments was the selection of powerhouse Nick Layton, chosen to represent Australia at the prestigious World Deaf Swimming Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina in August.
National Age Championships saw a barrage of selections into Victorian Performance Pathways Squads, introducing the Victorian Elite to a taste of what’s to come in their swimming journey through pathways camps and VIS testing programs.
Jacob Nimmo and Campbell Wilson-Moran proudly took their places in the State Marlins Squad, with Jack Morrow, Xavier Purcell and Tom Sutherland making their mark with State Flippers selection.
Further to this, Campbell, Jack, Xavier and Tom were also chosen jet off to New Zealand as part of Swimming Victoria’s 2023 touring team, where they will pit their talents against the very best 15-18 year old athletes across Western Australia, Oceania and New Zealand in a Swim League-style competition in late September.
Audreanna David, Chiara Hutchinson and Samuel Scodella did both Propulsion and School Sport Victoria proud through the SSV event program, culminating in selection for Team Vic, where they will compete for their schools and the State at the School Sport Australia Championships in Sydney in August.
Furthermore, both Chiara and Samuel impressed not only in the water but have emerged as wonderful leaders, chosen as the male and female Senior Captains of the School Sport Victoria representative team. It is extremely rare that both captains are members of the same club, and it is a strong testament of the calibre of our athletes and their coaches.
Wishing our representative athletes warm congratulations and the very best of luck in their upcoming adventures, both in Australia and abroad.
