Propulsion's junior swimmers had one of their favourite days of the year - the Junior Big Day Out!
The Junior Big Day Out gave us swimmers the opportunity to bond with friends and teammates outside of the pool as well as interacting and getting to know Propulsion swimmers that we don’t train with through challenges and teamwork activities.
The day started out with a training session in the morning - to much surprise and a massive relief to the squad we weren’t going to get buried! The squad spent the training session playing a game of Jeopardy with a swimming twist, hosted by our game show host Marcus Blake, ably assisted by Guy Gatt. All swimmers participated in rounds, showing team spirit by cheering and showing support to one another and some may say our competitiveness got the best of us. The training session set a positive tone to the day as everyone was eagerly waiting to see which team had won.
After the completion of the training session, we gathered for a team breakfast fueling ourselves for the upcoming adventure ahead! The crew then jumped on the tram making our way to the new destination, HardRock rock-climbing in the CBD.
Everyone was excited to get climbing and after a few safety explanations and a run through of how to rock-climb, we were ready to go. Is it really the Big Day Out if there’s not another team competition? Well, our determination and listening skills were put to the test as groups worked together to gather points by climbing various walls in hope to have the most points. To increase the challenge we were given blindfolds and a teammate had to make their way up the wall with the instructions from teammates down the bottom. It was close between all groups and well done to ‘The Golden Girls’ for winning the rock-climbing challenge!
The team was ravenous after rock-climbing and were looking forward to a delicious lunch at Shanghai Village. To end the fantastic day, everyone was ready with buzzing responses to an intense round of trivia and to win the great prizes up for grabs!
With many acts of false starting and failed attempted plans we also had cheering, hard work and an abundance of laughter. To conclude the overall Jeopardy game and the results everyone had been waiting for, the winning team was, drum roll please…..Team 4!!!
The Propulsion Big Day Out crew are extremely grateful for the support given by parents, coaches, specifically Marcus Blake and the committee for making this thrilling day happen.
It sure was a big day full of fun, togetherness and laughter!
