A huge team of 26 club swimmers participated in the Metro West All Junior Heats held at Broadmeadows Leisure Centre in March, with a number of swimmers making it through to Metro All Junior Semi-Finals, as well as some outstanding PBs.
Congratulations to Owen Cheung, Ahmed Elgammal, James Hay, Zek Hooper, Chloe King, Jake Pauesi, Rosemary Pauesi, Jack Robinson, Harry Silke, Hunter Staples, Laura Stevenson, Jake Sweerts and Mia Toussas for making it to the Metro Semi-Finals, which, together with the Finals, were held at MSAC on the weekend of 30/31 March.
On the Saturday, WMP athletes were in action in the semi finals, where the top 10 from each of the 4 Metro districts raced off for the right to qualify for the finals to be swum the next day.
There was some great racing by all, with may PBs swum, and at the end of the day, the following two swimmers moved through to the Finals on 31 March: James Hay (9th, 50BK); and Laura Stevenson (8th 50FL) - a significant achievement in a really tough field of high quality swimmers.
A big thank you to all of the coaches who attended the meet and all of the parents who helped out with timekeeping duties across all the sessions.
