What started off as a week full of excitement, quickly turned into a trial for our team, with some of our coaches having to isolate. This necessitated some urgent flight plans for additional coaches to head over sooner than expected. It was great to see the support we received from other clubs too – providing coaching advice and filling some early gaps while our 'Plan B' was set in place. Really impressive spontaneous resolutions provided by incredible flexibility from our coaches.
Our team comprised: Chiara Hutchinson, Chloe King, Jack Morrow, James Morrow, Noah O’Donnell, Thomas Sutherland and Tyler Theodore. For many of these swimmers, it was their first national event and they all performed exceptionally well, with multiple PBs, several A and B finals, and a multi-medallist!
We had the following results:
Jack Morrow (B14) – 200BK A Final 7th with PBs in the heat and final; 50BK B Final 2nd with PBs in both the heat and final; 100BK A Final 7th with PBs in the heat and final
James Morrow (B17) – 100BR B Final 6th with PB in the final
Thomas Sutherland (B14) – 200BR Bronze with PBs in the heat and final; 50BR Bronze with PBs in the heat and final; 100BR Silver with PBs in the heat and final.
We were also in the great position of being able to field a boys' relay team (B14-17). Our boys raced a sensationally close race, with each leg (Jack BK, Tom BR, James FL and Tyler FR) holding off some more favoured teams to drop a 2.80 PB and win their heat.
Congratulations to all our swimmers and many thanks to the coaching team – Adrian, Lex, Adam, Marcus B and Seb for their support and guidance throughout the meet and in preparing our swimmers so well.
