2020 Australian Open Water Swimming Championships

February 3, 2020

Over 420 swimmers registered for the Australian Open Water Championships, held at Brighton Beach, Adelaide, South Australia from 25 - 27 January. We had 2 swimmers qualify.

The 2020 Australian Open Water Swimming Championships returned to the picturesque Brighton Beach from 25– 27January 2020. Australia’s pinnacle open water swimming event showcased the country’s top and emerging open water swimming talent. This event forms a key part of the criteria to gain selection for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

We had two swimmers qualify to represent us - Noah O'Donnell (14 year old boys) and Robbe Dilissen (Open).

Robbe competed in both the 10km and 5km events. He placed an impressive 20th Australian in the Men's 10km event. He also swam the 5km race, where he finished strong to claim a 19th placing.

Noah O'Donnell, competing at his first National event, made history for the club, claiming a silver medal in the 14 year old male 5km event. He becomes the first national open water medallist for Western Melbourne Propulsion.

Congratulations to both our swimmers!
